Earth Day, which promotes the importance of environmental issues around the world, will be celebrated at Landis Homes with several events happening on Tuesday, April 25.  The public is invited to the annual Used Book Sale, and the Vegetarian Dinner.

The Used Book Sale will be held from 8:00 am – 4:00 p.m. in the West Community Room.  All cash donations support the Landis Homes Library Fund.

In the evening, a Vegetarian Dinner will be held in the Azalea Room from 5:00-7:00 pm to be enjoyed by residents and off campus guests. The menu includes an assortment of healthy vegetarian foods prepared by the dining services team.  For reservations, contact 581-3875. Prices are $17 and $19.50.  The menu includes Caramelized Cauliflower Bisque, Quinoa Salad w/Pistachios & Cranberries, Crispy Falafel, Mushroom Ravioli in Marsala Cream, Smoked Jackfruit sliders w/fried shallots, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie & More.

In addition to these events, residents will tour neighboring Mennonite Disaster Services headquarters on Airport Road, Lititz, to learn about solar energy in a practical way. Solar power can be used to generate electricity or to heat water. Widespread use of solar panels reduces dependence on fossil fuels. At the Mennonite Disaster Service office and warehouse, 80-85% of the electricity is provided by rooftop solar panels.
