Campus Named Training Site for Healthcare Workers

February 26, 2009

Landis Home's Administrator of Healthcare Ethel Caldwell, center, and Director of Nursing Danine Bitting, right, receive a certification from Sabita Balgobin, a nurse educator from the Pennsylvania Restraint Reduction Initiative (PARRI) of the Kendall Outreach Corporation. The certification is in the category of pressure sore prevention.

In 2008, Ms Balgobin came to Landis Homes and provided interdisciplinary in-service training to healthcare employees at all levels and all shifts to assist them in utilizing tools in assessment and ongoing work with the implementation and evaluation processes in the prevention of pressure sores. Landis Homes was initially chosen as a possible training site due to the positive outcomes associated with this program.

In June 2008, Landis Homes became an official training site on the Prevention of Pressure Sores and acts as a resource for other communities in Lancaster County. In this role Landis Homes team members will present two county wide in-services annually. The next scheduled in-service is scheduled for May 19, 2009.
