The current art exhibit at Landis Homes features the most recent pastel works of Lancaster artist, Jim King. His show is the first exhibit to be held in the Crossings Art Gallery at Landis Homes, housed in the newly constructed Calvin G. & Janet C. High Learning & Wellness Center which also includes apartments, a bistro, a fitness center with pool, salon and spa, bank, and other community services.

“I look forward to helping launch this new gallery at Landis Homes,” says King.

In prior art exhibits at Landis Homes, King has shown a variety of work including painted wood and rug hooking. For this new exhibit, King’s pastels will include still life including florals as well as his views from his recent travels to the southwest of the U.S. and local scenes of rural Pennsylvania.

King was born and grew up in Southeastern Pennsylvania near Big Valley. He received his art degree from Goshen College in Indiana and is a recently retired store designer from Ten Thousand Villages, Ephrata. In the 1990s, Jim lived in Bangladesh, working for Mennonite Central Committee as a product designer working with many local artisans in southeast Asia.
