The mission of Pathways Institute for Lifelong Learning® is to foster with persons age 55+ a quest for lifelong learning that enriches the mind and spirit to pursue wisdom, service, and understanding. Pathways Institute was established in 2005 to provide a forum for those 55+ to find meaningful use of their talents and abilities.

The spring 2022 term of Pathways Institute for Lifelong Learning offered by Landis Communities began with a kickoff event on February 10 at Calvary Church. About 50 people attended to speak with instructors and learn about what courses are being offered.

The 40 plus courses and learning opportunities, which run from March 17 – May 24, are open to all Lancaster County residents as well as residents from neighboring counties, who are 55+. Course topics include: Discover Your Pennsylvania State Parks, The Duke and Duchess of Windsor, The Great American Films, Communicating Cross-Culturally, Western Turkey: Crossroads of Civilization, and more courses on nature, history, religion, and current topics.

In addition to courses, Pathways Institute is also offering off-site opportunities and excursions, such as Introduction to Pickleball, an Amish Farm Tour, or a Tour of the State Capitol.

There is a registration fee that includes enrollment for eight courses per semester as well as a per-course payment option.

“We greatly appreciate the variety of topics offered. While we attend some courses together, we each find things of special interest, too,” says Fred and Judy Sargent, participants of Pathways Institute. “A particular blessing of Pathways Institute has been the opportunity to meet other students and the instructors. Over the years, we’ve enlarged our circle of friends thanks to Pathways Institute. As we moved here from New England, we very much enjoy opportunities to learn about Pennsylvania history. Looking forward to the tour of the State Capital as well as the Amish Farm Tour.”

Pathways Institute started the Lancaster County program in 2008, through a partnership with Landis Communities and the original program which started in 2005 at Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg, PA.

“We are excited to welcome lifelong learners to another season of enrichment opportunities and educational offerings that bring transformation,” said Anastasia Petrovskaya, Pathways Institute Director. “I invite you to personally experience the wide range of courses this spring — discover how big space is, take a peek behind the scenes of a theater, break into life-story writing, learn how to communicate well with people of different cultures, and give pickleball a try. It’s never too late to learn something new!”

Landis Homes campus is located at 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz PA 17543. The Spring 2022 catalog of courses along with registration information can be found online at www.ThePathwaysInstitute.org/Lancaster-County. For more information, call 717-381-3577, or email info@thepathwaysinstitute.org.
