On 10/23/23 the team learned of a healthcare resident who tested positive for COVID-19. This resident was placed in isolation and we started with contact trace testing. All of healthcare staff were required to mask. While doing this testing two additional residents and two team members were noted to be positive. With these results, we went to a broad testing approach where all team members working in Oregon were required to test twice a week, and all Oregon residents were tested per protocol.
Throughout the next three weeks, several more positive results were noted. We had a total of 9 residents and 11 team members.
At this time all residents have recovered and are out of isolation. Very sadly we did have one resident who passed away several days after completing his isolation.
Oregon House has completed 14 days with no positive tests which means bi-weekly testing is no longer required.
Healthcare did have an exposure from another household on 11/12/23, which requires healthcare households to remain in masking at this time.
I am very grateful for the excellent team work and attention to infection control that is evident as we continue to work through this outbreak.
