Dementia-Friendly Experience at Landis Homes

Landis Homes has been intensifying our commitment to provide a highly supportive environment for individuals living with dementia. This initiative began with all team members receiving training in Positive Approach to Care (PAC)^®.

About the Positive Approach to Care (PAC)^® Program

All team members are trained in Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care for people with dementias, which places the person with dementia at the center of all care decisions, activities, and therapies.

This person-centered approach emphasizes empathy, assistance, and openness, ensuring that care partners prioritize the wellness, health, and happiness of each individual over their abilities or limitations. Building on the Honoring Lives initiative and the loving care already provided, this approach enhances skills and knowledge, benefiting residents, families, and team members alike. Through this commitment, we strive to provide excellence in care and services for individuals at every stage of dementia.

Introducing Stephanie (Teffie) Landman

Stephanie “Teffie” Landmann has been named as the inaugural Director of Dementia Friendly Experience. A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and certified PAC^® Trainer, Coach, Consultant, Engagement Leader, and Champion Teacher. Teffie has been teaching PAC^® learners since 2018. Her expertise in mentoring individuals and organizations on best practices for supporting those with memory loss has made her a sought-after speaker at healthcare associations and medical conferences. Prior to this, she held significant management positions in various rehabilitation roles, including Director of Rehabilitation overseeing multiple facilities.

Support Groups for Residents

Men’s Caregivers Support Group is ran by volunteers. The group meets the third Tuesday of the month from 10-11am in the 2^nd Floor Crossings Meeting Room. Please call the Residential Living social worker at 717-381-3533 with any questions.

Women’s Caregivers Support Group is co-led by Social Services and Chaplain. It is held the second Thursday of the month from 2-3pm in the 3^rd Floor Crossing’s Community Room. Please call the Residential Living social worker at 717-381-3533 with any questions.

Sing for the Moment Choir is a Social Engagement Program that provides an opportunity for people living in the early to mid-stage of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, along with their care partners, to enjoy music and socialize. The choir fosters joy, friendship, self-esteem, confidence and a strong sense of belonging for participants. Call 717-381-3599 to register or if you have any questions.
