October 2015

Landis Homes recently announced the appointment of two new members to its board of directors. They are Joseph Caputo and David Hernley.

Joseph Caputo and his wife Linda moved to Landis Homes in 2015 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary as new residents. They are the parents of three adult children. Now retired, Caputo served as President of Millersville University, Millersville, PA, for 22 years. Previously he held numerous academic positions at several universities in New York, Texas and Pennsylvania. He served on the boards  of Lancaster General Hospital Foundation, St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, the  Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and The Lancaster Economic Development Company, among others. He currently serves as President of the Clarence Schock Foundation, Mount Joy.  “We love it here. Landis Homes is everything it promised to be and we feel  incredibly blessed to be members of this community,” Caputo says. “I’m honored to have been asked to serve on the board as a resident member and look forward to serving. I pray that I can make a meaningful contribution to the work of fulfilling the mission of Landis Homes.”

David Hernley, of Elizabethtown, is a Principal  with CPA firm of Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz, Granite Run Drive, Lancaster.  Previously he was a board member of  Philhaven Hospital and Black Rock Retreat. He and his wife Renee are the parents of three adult children. They worship at  Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church. His aunt, Grace Stauffer, is a resident of  Landis Homes. In September, he began serving as board treasurer.  “I am looking forward to getting to know the other board members, the leadership  and staff,” says Hernley. “I enjoy the challenge of learning new things and especially the financial operations of Landis Homes.”
