The public is invited to an Art Reception for Linda E.A. Gaston on Monday, February 3, 2020, 6:00-8:00 pm in the Crossings Art Gallery, located in the Calvin G. & Janet C. High Learning & Wellness Center.  Snow date is February 10.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Linda Ellen Ackley Gaston earned a B.S in Art Education from Penn State and took some additional art classes at Purdue.  From early days she has been drawn to arts and crafts. She made most of her own clothes in high school and college, and made wedding dresses for her daughter and daughter-in-law.

Her paintings were mostly oils until moving to Poughkeepsie, NY in 1973 and connecting with a good watercolor teacher, Fiona Banta. Since then, watercolor has been Linda’s main medium. Nevertheless, she experiments with so many different styles that people viewing a major exhibit of her art can be surprised to learn that one artist did all of it. Her range includes realistic, whimsical and completely abstract.

Linda has taught watercolor painting to children and adults in her home and other venues. When a new art gallery opened in the Poughkeepsie area about 1991, many of the exhibiting artists were her former students. Since moving to Lancaster in 1993 she has taught at the Iris Club, at the Lancaster County Art
Association and with home-schooled children.

Linda has four children (scattered from Reading to Honolulu), four grandchildren (scattered from Ephrata to Los Angeles) and one nearly four-year-old great-grandchild (in Ephrata) who loves to explore the hallways at Landis Homes and interact with residents when she visits her great-grandparents, Linda and her husband Charles.
