Roots & Blooms Campaign

The Roots & Blooms campaign will provide the philanthropic support necessary to renew and refresh existing places and create new spaces for residents to enjoy.

Landis Homes has a long and faithful tradition of giving for the joy of serving others. The generous contributions of individuals, families, churches, businesses and other friends have supported our community in times of growth and need. This tradition of “freely giving what we have received” is what makes Landis Homes special.

With your help, the vision you see here will be brought to life!

Blooming with Purpose

Community Gardens

Taking care of the land is a cornerstone of life at Landis Homes. Cultivating the rich soil for growing food and flowers is a passion of many of those who live here. Resident garden plots will be located between the barn and farmhouse. Features found in these gardens will include gardening sheds that reflect the design of the neighborhood, a stone terrace constructed with stones from the historic barn and a greenhouse (not pictured) to germinate plants and grow herbs throughout the year.

A Place to Meet, A Space to Make

The new B.A.R.N. (Building for Artistry and Recreation with Neighbors) will be a destination for residents to actively pursue their interests while connecting with others.

Upper B.A.R.N.

Upper Level: 6,200 sf

The upper B.A.R.N. will focus on recreation and physical activity, as well as offer a large venue for community gatherings. The space will include:

Two indoor Pickleball Courts available for resident use
Two Basketball Hoops mounted along the side of one of the pickleball courts
A Golf Simulator with a seating area for friends to enjoy the game together

Lower B.A.R.N.

Lower Level: 6,300 sf

Three distinct sections of the lower B.A.R.N. will provide spaces for artistic expression and shared time with neighbors, family and friends:

An expanded Woodshop, complete with woodworking equipment, work stations and rooms for wood finishing and storage
A creative Makers Space which includes workstations, storage for supplies and an area for holding educational classes
An indoor/outdoor gathering location with an indoor Meeting Room and a beautiful outdoor patio overlooking the community gardens

Why is this campaign important now?

Since 1964, Landis Homes has grown into one of the most reputable continuing care communities in the nation. It is no wonder that more than 850 individuals call Landis Homes their home. Because our community is growing and changing, it is our responsibility to preserve our unique history while also remaining vital and relevant for residents. A new vision for aging includes being active, healthy, vibrant and purposeful.

Will the spaces renewed and created through this campaign be available to all residents?

Yes. These spaces can be enjoyed by all residents. Residents may also use the meeting room and patio for times with family and friends, community meetings or other social activities. Some locations may require reservations.

Will my gift to this campaign be tax-deductible?

Yes, Landis Homes is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Gifts made to Landis Homes are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. You will receive an official gift acknowledgment for your tax purposes. Feel free to contact your financial advisor/planner for guidance on how to make your most tax-advantageous gift to this campaign.

How will my gift be recognized?

When you give a gift to the Roots & Blooms campaign, you will be recognized in a post-campaign Honor Roll of Donors if you choose. The campaign will also include numerous gift naming and gift designation opportunities, with contributions of $10,000 or more.

Remember, gifts of all sizes are needed and all will be gratefully received! With your help, the new B.A.R.N. and Community Gardens will become a destination on the Landis Homes campus where residents can enjoy the company of neighbors while they pursue their passions and explore new opportunities for community engagement.FAQs

The Roots & Blooms campaign has been established to raise $1.75 million to ensure this project can be completed. The campaign seeks gifts from current and past board members, residents, future residents, families, team members, businesses, organizations, churches and foundations who want to see our community thrive.

Gifts of any size are welcome and all play an important role in achieving this vision. In addition to outright gifts of cash, there are other ways for you to give generously through this campaign. Gift of Securities – stocks, bonds, mutual funds or real estate – may allow you to avoid capital gains tax. For those age 70 ½ or older, a contribution from an IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly to Landis Homes allows you to avoid income tax on the distribution.

You may also spread your gift commitment out over a period of up to three years. This option may provide an opportunity to make a larger gift than you thought possible. For those interested in supporting a particular area of the project, please inquire regarding named gift opportunities and gift designations.
