One of our Guiding Values is Community, and we are grateful to our many educational partners and for the ways they have benefitted residents and team members throughout the years.

In the winter issue of Horizons, we celebrated the 55th anniversary of Landis Homes. We are honored in the Spring 2019 issue, to highlight the 25th anniversary of our partnership with Lancaster Mennonite High School and the Art Student Scholarship Awards.

Our campus is graced with many works of art selected each spring at the LMS Fine Arts Festival. To mark this silver anniversary, a reception took place on campus in the new Crossings Gallery in late March. We were happy to host students from the previous years, along with current and former teachers who attended this special event.

Celebrating this event brings to mind the many important connections Landis Homes has with other educational efforts across the area. One of the most enduring is the Grand Pals program with Hinkletown Mennonite School, which started 20 years ago. This brings 4th and 5th graders from the school together with residents of Landis Homes several times each year. The conversations and two-way learnings are priceless, with some of the relationships lasting far beyond participation in the program.

We also collaborate with a large number of higher educational institutions from the area. Interns from Millersville University, Franklin & Marshall College, Elizabethtown College, Eastern Mennonite Seminary and Lancaster Bible College have brought enthusiasm for learning and helped us serve residents well. Interns, who bring fresh ideas, have filled roles ranging from art therapy and social work to wellness and pastoral care.

Our campus also provides learning labs for many who are working to gain degrees and specialized training. Students from HACC, Central Penn College, Elizabethtown and other schools have learned their craft here and we are delighted that many are now members of our team.

Through all of these valuable opportunities and more, we cultivate and find new ways for people to experience engagement with Landis Homes, and all parts of Landis Communities. As we continue this journey, we invite you to share with us your thoughts, concerns, affirmations, dreams and prayers. Thank you!
